2018 marked San Antonio’s 300th birthday – its tricentennial – and provided an opportunity to celebrate the city’s past, honor its present, and imagine its future. The city’s Tricentennial Commission came to us to solve their marketing challenge: create memorable ways to communicate why the tricentennial warrants celebration, how the community can get involved, and how it is significantly different from San Antonio’s annual Fiesta. Challenge accepted.
We started with a logo that embraces elements from across San Antonio’s history and cultural landscape, and then developed messaging that would boost awareness and increase excitement about the celebration. The campaign lunched via social, broadcast and out-of-home media, and a complementary website encouraged community organizations and individuals to get involved.
